Computer drafting was by Microstation.

AMEC Engineering - Crawley, Sussex

 

Modification and refurbishment of the oil site for BP Wytch Farm (primarily for their Kimmeridge Site) and Enterprise Oil for their Corrib project (gas receiving terminal) in Eire, and have been fully involved with the production of motor schematic and wiring diagrams, earthing diagrams, overall single line diagrams, MTO and cable schedules, instrument loop diagrams, cable routing diagrams, switchboard schematics, single line and protection diagrams.

Design and detailing of a pharmaceutical plant in Singapore for Parke-Davis involving schematic and wiring diagrams from 22kV switchboard schematics, single line and protection diagrams, cable routing diagrams, cable schedules, drawing schedules, to 24v control and instrumentation diagrams and loops. As part of the contract, an overall estimate of the contract was required before the job was started.

Computer drafting was by Autocad R14

Harland and Wolff - Belfast

 

Design and detailing of drill ships for Global Marine Drilling Company, involving schematic and wiring diagrams from switchboard schematics to control and instrumentation diagrams and loops.  Site work and troubleshooting was routine.  Computer drafting was by Autocad R14 and Tribon System and also Mars 4.2 cable system.

Glaxo Wellcome - Dartford, Kent.

 

Design and detailing of cable trays for power, control and instrument cables including cable tray layouts, cable routing layouts, layout drawings for gas detectors, fire detectors and lighting layouts. Computer draughting was by Autocad.R13.

Also, updating of single line diagrams, motor control diagrams, loop diagrams and cable scheduling for a reactor building extension.

Smithkline/Beecham - Worthing, Sussex.

 

All aspects of pharmaceutical plant design and modifications, ranging from 11kV H/V electrical distribution diagrams and layouts to instrumentation loop diagrams.  Drawing work involved wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, cable layouts, instrument and cable scheduling, loop diagrams, engineering line diagrams, P&I.D.s, motor control diagrams, termination layouts and diagrams. 

Although design and draughting was produced on the drawing board, the majority of work was produced from the company CAD computer system (DOGS).  Work also involved site visits and liaison with contractors’ representatives.  Six years experience with Autocad R12/R13.

 

 

December 1984 – November 1987

Shell (UK) Expro - St Fergus Gas Plant

 

Site based construction and engineering project concerned with design and detail of pipeline integrity computer controlled on F.L.A.G.S. pipeline from St. Fergus to Mossmorran.  Instrumentation contract involving the gathering and supplying of information for Matthew Hall in Aberdeen.  Drawing effort included layouts, wiring diagrams, cabling diagrams, cable schedules, P&I.D.s, loop diagrams, interconnection diagrams, instrument index sheets, etc.  Being in charge of the drawing office at St. Fergus meant overseeing a team of designers and tracers involved with all aspects of drawing supervision from allocating sketches to checking the final drawings.

Design and detail of Conoco’s Kotter semi-submersible production deck facility concerning cabling diagrams, layouts, cable schedules, cable routing diagrams, schematic diagrams, M.T.O.s etc., providing work for tracers to draw final drawings from sketches.

Mobil (Aker Offshore)

 

Preparing platform instrument and electrical drawings in mark-up form as-builts to be modified on-shore.  This involved working a 2 week on, 2 week off rota.
