Electrical, Communications
& Special Systems Consultant to PIATCO, for the
detailed design and construction phases of a new US$550M, international
terminal for Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila. The 30MVA capacity
power system included a 33kV ring linking eight 2.5, 4 & 5MVA, 33/0,4kV
substations each with standby generators.
Other systems included 400kVA UPS, lighting, grounding, lightning
protection, communications, security, building management, airfield
lighting, fuel hydrant, information systems, fire detection, etc. Ensured
that the EPC contractor’s detailed design was in full accordance with
the conceptual design and that the works were executed in strict accordance
with the approved detailed design, applicable local and international
codes & standards and good workmanship. Witnessed testing and commissioning
of the works in preparation for hand-over and compiled lists of defects
and omissions. Advised the Client on all aspects of the electrical,
communications and special systems works. Demobilised December 2002 upon completion of the works, having
successfully fulfilled consultant’s responsibilities under the contract.
Field
Engineering Manager for the final stages of the construction phase
of a US$540M project comprising the expansion and renovation of the
existing Terminal 1, construction of a new 118,000 m2 satellite
passenger Concourse 1, new domestic passenger Terminal 2, taxiways,
aprons and support facilities including a fuel farm and utility plant. Directed
and coordinated the work of the mechanical and electrical engineering
groups during the final stages of construction & commissioning.
Provided timely engineering support to project managers, supervised
the works of the numerous M&E subcontractors and liaised with the
Client on all M&E engineering matters (10
Engineers reporting).
Demobilised
following successful completion & handover of the works.
Lead Electrical & Special Systems Engineer for the construction phase of a new US$150M Departure Terminal for London Luton Airport. Managed
and expedited the work of the site electrical and special systems engineering
teams. Overall responsibility for the installation of electrical power,
communications and special systems including security, airfield lighting,
building management, fire protection, structured cabling, etc. (5 Engineers
reporting). Transferred to another Bechtel project at Dubai International
Airport following successful completion & handover of the works.
Senior Systems Engineer, preparing
specifications and drawings for the conceptual design of a new international
terminal at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Systems included: electrical
power, standby generators, UPS, grounding, lightning protection, communications,
security, building management, information technology, & others.
Subsequently, evaluated and reported on contractor’s tenders for the
project works. Demobilised on completion of the conceptual design phase and pending award of the contracts for implementation phases.
Systems Integration
Engineer providing on-site
design services & supervising the installation of the power supply
system supporting the data and communications network for the new international
airport near Kuala Lumpur. Liaised with other contractors to ensure
proper coordination and timely execution of the installation works.
Demobilised following successful completion & handover
of the works.
Supervisory Electrical Engineer
on pre-engineering phase of project to expand Statoil’s Karsto
plant to process rich gas from the North Sea Asgard field. Developed
design of electrical power distribution system with six new substations
and associated 300kV, 66kV, 22kV, 6.6kV, 660V & 400V supplies, plus
modifications and tie-ins to existing equipment. Carried
out studies to determine optimum system design to cater for two new
8 MW, 22kV compressors and other processing plant, required transformer,
generator and UPS capacities, and special grounding requirements. Also,
carried out preliminary hazardous area study to determine protection
requirements for equipment located in hazardous zones. (4 electrical
engineers and 6 designers reporting)
Commissioning Engineer on commissioning and start-up phase of expansion works at Statoil’s
Karsto refinery. Called in by Fluor Daniel UK office to help local staff
resolve problems associated with the electrical power, controls and
instrumentation systems.
Lead Electrical Engineer for installation
of 3km x 12in. bitumen pipeline from Thames Estuary to Shell haven Refinery,
London, to import bitumen from ships to the refinery. Project works
included high power induction heating of pipeline via Scott-connected
transformer, provision of pumps, power supplies and pipeline instrumentation.
Responsible for all aspects of design, installation and commissioning
of electrical works.
Field Engineering Manager (Electrical & Control Systems)
coordinated work of E&CS Construction
and Engineering Groups throughout the construction phase of the Tetrahydrofuran
(THF) project. Included resolving design problems, controlling changes,
procuring equipment, reporting on progress and costs. (4 Field Supervisors
and E&CS Design Groups reporting) Lead Electrical Engineer on the THF Project. Recruited and established Electrical Group
for new Fluor Daniel office in Northern Spain. Led Group from preliminary
design phase through to design completion on $US200M THF Project. Utilised
integrated CAD and CAM systems, including 3D CAD model, and ‘intelligent’
drawings/data bases. (3 electrical engineers and 8 designers reporting)
Lead Electrical Engineer on
major building services project, directing and controlling the work
of the Electrical Group on site. Also investigated and reported on specialised
motor control and harmonics problems. (3 engineers & 8 designers
reporting)
Project Leader and Superintending
Officer responsible for the
planning, design, specification and contract management of a project
to uprate the power system. Included the construction
of two 3.2MVA 11000/400V substations within the Palace and substantial
HV & LV cable works.
Senior Electrical Engineer preparing specifications, evaluating tenders and vetting schemes
for various power station projects, including building services, telecommunications
and fire protection & detection.
Resident Engineer for
works associated with the expansion and development of Qatar’s 132 &
66 kV transmission system. Overall responsibility on site for the construction
of 15 new substations from original site survey through to satisfactory
completion of the works and handing over to Client, plus extension works
at 10 existing substations.
Area Maintenance Engineer (Transmission):
Directed and controlled maintenance work on BR HV
& LV transmission and distribution cables and associated equipment
in South Kent area. Overall management of four maintenance depots with
a total staff of 45. Senior Technical Officer (Testing & Commissioning Dept)
Field test engineer required to carry out testing and commissioning
on all electrical substation equipment, including HV & LV switchgear,
transformers, rectifiers, and instrumentation. |
